Most of the editor can be worked from the keyboard. The list below is the one the editor itself shows.

## Open the list in the editor

Press ? anywhere in the editor, or the keyboard button at the end of the toolbar over the video, to open **Keyboard shortcuts**. Escape closes it again.

## The shortcuts

Text fields keep their usual typing shortcuts. Select a layer on the video to move or edit it.

On a Mac, ⌘ takes the place of Ctrl.

## In the transcript

The transcript is one stop for the Tab key, and the arrow keys walk its words from there. Enter opens the word under the focus to change it, Enter and Shift Enter then move to the next word and the one before, and Escape lets go of the word. [Edit a clip's transcript](https://www.snipri.com/docs/edit-the-transcript) covers what you can do to a word.

## On the timeline

- With the playhead focused, the arrow keys move it by a tenth of a second, and with Shift by a whole second.
- A layer's bar moves with the left and right arrow keys, in the same steps, and Delete removes the layer. Focusing a bar selects its layer, and each end of the bar then takes the focus too, to make the layer show for longer or for less time.
- The edges of the clip move with the arrow keys too, which trims it. [Trim and split a clip](https://www.snipri.com/docs/trim-and-split-a-clip) covers the rest.
