# See why a clip was chosen

Every clip Snipri picks keeps the five scores it was chosen on and the reason in a sentence. Where to find them, and what each of the scores measures.

Snipri doesn't hand you clips and ask you to trust them. Every clip it picks keeps the scores it was picked on and the reason, in a sentence, so you can check the choice yourself.

## Where to find it

Open a clip in My clips. In its details, under the title and **Open editor**, **Why this clip** shows:

- **Delivered**, the mark of a clip Snipri chose, with the line the clip opens on.
- **Must pass**: the hook, payoff and standalone scores, with a dashed line where the gate is.
- **Also scored**: arc and quotability.
- The reason the moment was chosen, as the model wrote it.

## How a moment gets in

Every moment gets 5 scores out of 10: hook, payoff, standalone sense, arc and quotability. Hook, payoff and standalone sense are gates: a moment becomes a clip only when each of the three reaches 7. Moments that pass are ranked by hook and payoff, with the other three breaking ties.

## What each score measures

- **Hook**: how hard the opening seconds grab attention.
- **Payoff**: whether the moment delivers a satisfying point, punchline or insight by its end.
- **Standalone**: whether it makes sense with no context around it.
- **Arc**: whether it has a shape of its own, with a beginning, a little tension and a resolution.
- **Quotability**: how memorable or shareable its core line is.

A moment that scores high on arc and quotability but misses one of the three gates is still left out. That is why a video can come back with fewer clips than you hoped, and sometimes with none. [When a video comes back with no clips](https://www.snipri.com/docs/near-miss-clips) says what you can do then.

## When you disagree with a pick

The scores explain a choice; they don't lock it. Trim a clip that starts too early or ends too late, or split one that covers two points into two clips. To steer the next job, write what you want into **Moments to look for** before you start it.

A clip you split says it was scored as one moment, before the split. A near-miss you made into a clip says **Your pick** instead of Delivered, because Snipri left it out and you chose it.

The [AI clip maker](https://www.snipri.com/features/ai-clip-maker) page shows the selection on real clips.
