Clip a video longer than your plan covers

Each plan covers a set length of each video. How to clip a longer recording one part at a time with the timeframe, and how each part is counted.

On this page

A plan limits how much of a video one job reads, not how long the file can be. A longer recording still uploads, and you clip it one part at a time.

Each plan covers a set length of each video: 1 hour on Free, 2 hours on Starter and 3 hours on Pro and Scale.

Choose the part

#

After you add the file, the Video card in the Studio shows the footage as a strip of frames with a lime part on it. Only the lime part is read. On a recording longer than your plan covers, the Studio starts with the first part your plan covers selected.

  • Drag either end of the lime part. When the part is as long as your plan allows, pulling one end brings the other along, so the part slides.
  • Or type a time into Start and End, in hours, minutes and seconds.

The part you keep has to be at least 10 seconds long.

Press Get clips when the part is where you want it. To clip the next part, add the same file again and move the lime part on.

The timeframe is there for uploads only. A video from a link or a cloud drive is read in full, so to clip part of one, upload the file instead.

How the parts are counted

#

Each part is its own job, and each job counts one video for each hour of the part it reads, rounded up. Choosing a shorter part costs fewer videos, and the bar under the settings says how many before you start.

Part of the video a job processesVideos it counts
45 minutes1
1 hour1
1 hour and 30 minutes2
3 hours3

When you have fewer videos left than a part would count, the lime part can only be as long as the hours your videos cover. How videos are counted has the whole rule.
