Upload a video file

Which files Snipri takes, the largest upload and longest video on each plan, and what to do when an upload stops partway or a file can't be read.

On this page

Uploading the file is the way in with the most room: it takes the largest files, the longest recordings your plan covers, and it lets you choose the part of the video to clip.

Choose the file

#

In the Studio, press Upload video and pick the file, or drag it onto the Studio. The file needs its sound: Snipri picks moments from what is said, and a video exported without its audio track can't be clipped.

An MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio is the safest choice. Most other video files work too, and if one can't be read, exporting it again as that kind of MP4 fixes it almost every time.

How big and how long

#

The largest file you can upload is 1 GB on Free, 3 GB on Starter and 10 GB on Pro and Scale. A file over 4 GB goes up in parts, and a part that fails is sent again on its own.

Each plan covers a set length of each video: 1 hour on Free, 2 hours on Starter and 3 hours on Pro and Scale.

A recording longer than your plan covers still goes in. The Studio selects the first part your plan covers, and you can drag it to any other part. Clip a video longer than your plan covers shows how to clip the rest.

While it uploads

#

The file goes from your browser straight to Snipri's storage, and the Studio shows a bar as it fills. Keep the Studio open until the bar is full, because an upload stops when its tab closes. Once the file is in and the job has started, you can close the tab.

If the connection drops partway, the Studio says The upload didn't finish and nothing is processed or counted. Press Try again. If it keeps stopping, a smaller file or a steadier connection usually gets it through.

The spoken language

#

The Spoken language setting on the Video card starts on Detect automatically, which leaves the transcription to tell which language is spoken. If you know it, picking it takes that guess away.

Snipri transcribes and captions 25 languages: Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese. Choose the spoken language when you add a video, or let Snipri detect it.
